Apprenticeships birds

OneFile has championed innovation for apprenticeships for over 15 years, and now our eportfolio software has received royal recognition – the 2017 Queen's Award for Innovation.

To celebrate our success, we've taken a closer look at how innovation has transformed apprenticeships:

Ambitious targets

The reforms have brought apprenticeships into the spotlight. The Government's ambitious target to increase new apprenticeship starts to 3 million by 2020 will motivate employers to invest in their staff and encourage more people to complete vocational training.

Positive attitudes

The introduction of higher and degree-level apprenticeships has completely changed the way apprenticeships are perceived. They're now seen as an equally prestigious route into higher education and are being embraced by learners, parents, employers and universities across the country.

The levy

The apprenticeship levy was a bit of a shock to the system when it was first introduced, but now it's being embraced. Levy-paying employers are planning to invest the funds back into their staff and use apprentices to fill their skills gaps and support their growth. The new standards have put employers in control while apprentices gain the specific skills they need for their future career – it's a win-win.

Find out how to deliver the new standards with OneFile.

Innovative tech

Edtech is on the up too. Technology is being embraced across the apprenticeship sector, and it's making a huge difference to how learning is delivered, monitored and assessed. Apprenticeship software reduces completion times, increases learner engagement, eliminates paper and storage costs, and most importantly, increases the quality of training delivered to learners across the country.

And OneFile is no different! Our eportfolio software has brought apprenticeships into the 21st century and revolutionised how young people learn, grow and succeed.

In fact, OneFile has led the edtech revolution for over a decade, and we're proud to have had a huge impact on the sector. We were the first company to create an online portfolio for apprentices and the first to build an ESFA-approved electronic signature system. Then in 2012 we were the first to launch an offline eportfolio app – and now we've won an award for it!

We're delighted to announce our eportfolio app has won the 2017 Queen's Award for Innovation! The Queen's Award is the most prestigious accolade for UK businesses, and recognises our outstanding achievement in innovation.

Our co-founders, Chris Whalley and Susanna Lawson, collected the award at a royal ceremony at Buckingham Palace last summer. The award was presented by Her Majesty the Queen and is a highly deserved addition to our award cabinet!
