Employee morale can make or break a company's success – so it’s a pretty big deal.

Do your staff work as a team? Do they support each other and enjoy their work? Are they keen to get involved in extra curricular activities?
If the answer to any of these questions is no, it's time for you to start boosting staff morale across your company.

Build a personal development plan for each employee

Nobody wants to feel like their efforts are being wasted, so work with each of your employees to create a development plan that's personal to them. You can track their progression throughout the year using a CPD app, and support them in any areas they need help with.

Celebrate achievement

Rewarding employees when they have done well is fundamental to boosting staff morale. Incentives don’t have to be financial, you can send a 'well done' email, share some positive customer feedback or give them a shout-out during your monthly meeting – any type of recognition will help your staff reflect on their achievements and work even harder to achieve more!

Communicate company processes clearly

Communication is key to employee engagement, and there are loads of simple things you can do to get your staff interacting. You can organise fun activities, invite other teams into your monthly meetings or set up a company newsletter. If your staff are actively involved in the company community, they're sure to feel much happier at work.

Develop a positive community

We're all guilty of focusing on the negatives instead of the positives. But when it comes to boosting staff morale, you need to make a conscious effort to adopt a positive attitude at work. This will only work if you lead by example and encourage managers and team leaders to do the same.

Support a charity

Giving back is not only good for your company profile, it can help boost employee morale too. Get your staff to vote for a chosen cause they feel passionate about and organise a range of fundraising events to support them throughout the year. Things like bake-offs, charity walks or community clean-ups will bring your staff together and go along way to boost morale across the company.

Mix up the working day

We all know variety is the spice of life – so why don't we stick to this mantra in our working life too? Mixing up your normal office routine will help boost staff morale. You could introduce fun activities at random and get people from different departments together in teams. It can be an all day event, like a sports tournament, or just half an hour, like a doughnut eating competition. The weirder the better!
