How does OneFile support the new apprenticeship standards?
At OneFile, always strive to be ahead of the curve.
Ever since we started out over 15 years ago, we’ve been the first to break new ground and pioneer new technology for apprenticeships. We were the first to create an apprenticeship eportfolio and the first to launch an offline app – it’s why we were crowned winners of the 2017 Queen’s Award for Innovation.
But the innovation doesn’t end there.
We’re always developing our software to keep up with sector changes. As you know, there’s been a series of major apprenticeship reforms this year, so we’ve developed 6 brand-new features to support the new standards.
The change from the old frameworks to new standards has shifted the focus of apprenticeships from assessing to learning. In reaction, we’ve developed a VLE (virtual learning platform) where users can create a bank of online learning resources – from workbooks to video content – and import existing via SCORM. OneFile’s VLE and eportfolio work together as one integrated system, so you don’t have to switch between two different interfaces.
2. 20% OFF-THE-JOB TRAINING
We’ve developed our timesheet feature so apprentices can track their off-the-job training within their eportfolio. They can input their learning activity, where it took place, how long it took and a description to evidence their work. Employers can also report on the activity to monitor how their apprentices are progressing.
3. PROGRESS WEIGHTINGS
Some new standards have different weightings for different components. We’ve developed a new progress weightings feature so centres have complete control over the weightings for both on-programme learning and the end-point assessment.
4. BUILDING STANDARDS
Our in-house standards team can build bespoke standards to suit your centre. We also have 100s already uploaded onto the system, so they’re ready to go when you are!
5. REFLECTIVE JOURNALS
To encourage learners to record reflective journals, we’ve enhanced our current journal feature to include how much time has been spent completing each activity. It’s an easier way to prompt learners and keeps them engaged in the process.
6. PORTFOLIO SHOWCASE
Some end-point assessment organisations ask to see a portfolio of evidence as part of the EPA. To make this easy, we’ve developed a portfolio showcase where learners can create an online collection of their best evidence. The feature includes a report of all learner evidence where you can select the best pieces and download them into a read-only zip file. This can be emailed to the end-point assessment centre as part of the EPA.
As leaders in the apprenticeship sector, we’re very well prepared for the new apprenticeship standards. In fact, our in-house standards team has already uploaded hundreds of standards onto OneFile and more and more customers are starting to deliver them.
